About Our Hospital

The Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) was commissioned in 1974 as a Regional Hospital to provide health care services to the people of Tamale and its environs. It was also to serve as the main medical referral center for the Northern Sector of the country including Upper East and West regions. The Hospital previously operated from the premises of the Old Central Hospital and later moved to its present location after the construction of the new Hospital was completed and commissioned in 1974.

The Hospital has since 2009 been upgraded to a Teaching Hospital to serve as the only tertiary health provider in the whole of the Savanna regions including the Upper West and East regions, Northern Region, some parts of the Brong–Ahafo region and the Northern parts of the Volta region. The Hospital also receives clients from some parts of Burkina Faso and Togo
