CEO OF TAMALE TEACHING HOSPITAL URGES CLINICIANS TO ADOPT PATIENT-CENTERED COMMUNICATION

The CEO of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH), Dr. Adam Atiku has called on healthcare professionals to embrace patient-centered communication in their interactions. Speaking at an orientation program for newly posted house officers, Dr. Atiku emphasized that TTH is not only a hub for clinical care but also a leader in compassionate service delivery.

“Our mission extends beyond treating illnesses. We prioritize compassionate care, ensuring that every client’s needs and dignity are respected,” Dr. Atiku stated. He urged clinicians to be advocates for their clients, emphasizing, “Always seek what is in the best interest of the clients.”

Highlighting the hospital’s commitment to excellence, Dr. Atiku announced that TTH’s laboratory is now equipped with ultra-modern facilities, promising high-quality results to support clinical decision-making. He cautioned against prescribing medication or recommending laboratory services outside the hospital, assuring clinicians that the institution’s resources are robust enough to meet clients’ needs.

Prof. Alhassan Abdul-Mumin, Director of Medical Services, also addressed the gathering, urging the House Officers to prioritize their well-being. “Your health is essential to the care you provide. Support one another and do not hesitate to seek help when needed,” he advised. He also stressed the importance of adhering to the hospital's communication protocols to maintain organizational harmony.

Other notable speakers included Mr. Emmanuel S.K. Donkor (Esq.), Director of Administration, Pharm. Dr. Alhassan Salifu Tiah, Director of Pharmacy; Mr. Musah Salifu, Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services; and Mr. David Ahadzi, Deputy Director of Policy, Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation (PPME).
