A delegation from the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (GCPS) has paid a working visit to the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH). The visit was part of ongoing programmes for the accreditation of the Family Medicine Department for residency training. It also formed part of the College’s mandate to ensure that training centers across the country meet the required standards to support high-quality postgraduate medical education.
During a meeting with the team from GCPS, the Director of Medical Affairs, Prof. Alhassan Abdul-Mumin, who spoke on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, expressed appreciation to the GCPS for the visit and their continuous collaboration with the hospital.
He revealed that Management is fully committed to obtaining accreditation for the Family Medicine Department, noting that such a development would significantly strengthen the hospital’s capacity to retain both junior and senior residents for training.
Prof. Abdul-Mumin further acknowledged the ongoing support from the GCPS and reiterated the hospital’s readiness to implement necessary improvements to meet accreditation requirements.
The visit concluded with a reassurance from both sides of ongoing cooperation to enhance postgraduate medical training and improve healthcare delivery for the people of Ghana.
