The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH), in collaboration with the MEDEVAC team, has successfully concluded a week-long mission that offered free surgeries to women with obstetric and gynaecological conditions.
The exercise, which attracted clients from Tamale and beyond, combined clinical service delivery with knowledge sharing and professional collaboration.
At a socialization event to mark the end of the mission, the Chief Executive Officer of TTH, Dr. (Med) Abubakari Bawah Abdulai, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the MEDEVAC team for its partnership. He described the collaboration as impactful, not only for the patients who benefited directly, but also for the hospital staff who gained valuable skills and experience.
“The impact of this collaboration is being felt by people far and near Tamale — both in the services delivered and, in the knowledge, sharing that strengthens our systems. It also provides social support for our communities,” Dr. Bawah said.
He further appealed to MEDEVAC to explore expanding the collaboration to cover more medical specialties, a call echoed by the Director of Medical Affairs, Prof. Alhassan Abdul-Mumin.
For their part, the MEDEVAC team commended TTH management for its unwavering support, citing the timely provision of consumables and other essential interventions that enabled the mission’s success.
