The Ministry of Health (MoH) has partnered with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation to support the retooling of medical equipment in selected health facilities across the country. This was revealed during a meeting between the Management of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) and a delegation from the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, accompanied by Doctors with Africa (CUAMM), a non-governmental organization.
The visit formed part of an initial assessment exercise to review the state of medical equipment at TTH and identify existing gaps.
Welcoming the delegation on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Medical Affairs, Prof. Alhassan Abdul-Mumin, described the visit as timely.
“The target for Management from the beginning of the year was to retool medical equipment in the hospital. This is the right time for you to come,” he said.
Prof. Abdul-Mumin expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Health and its partners for the initiative, noting its potential to improve healthcare delivery. As part of the assessment, the team visited the Main Theatre, Radiology, Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD), and the Maintenance Unit.
