The Deputy Minister for Health, Hon. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening maternal healthcare. This was revealed during Hon. Dr. Grace Ayensu’s working visit to the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) as part of the regional assessment tour.
During the visit, the Deputy Minister engaged management and frontline healthcare professionals to gain first-hand insight into the operational realities of Ghana's major referral facilities. The engagement focused on reviewing referral pathways, assessing emergency response systems, and identifying priority interventions needed to improve maternal health outcomes.
Welcoming the government delegation, the Chief Executive Officer of Tamale Teaching Hospital, Dr. Abubakari Bawah Abdulai, highlighted several measures the hospital has implemented to enhance maternal care. These include the upgrading of essential medical equipment and continuous capacity-building initiatives aimed at improving the skills of healthcare professionals and the quality of care provided to mothers and newborns.
The engagement underscores the Ministry of Health's resolve to work closely with healthcare institutions to address maternal health challenges.
