At Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH), we know that when a patient arrives in an emergency, time is not just important – it can be life-saving. That is why we are working closely with the Ministry of Health (MoH) to strengthen how we manage beds, receive referrals and respond to patients who need urgent care.
TTH, in collaboration with the MoH, has trained designated Bed Management Coordinators from various wards and units on the new National Integrated Bed Management and Referral Coordination System (NIBMRCS). The system will provide real-time information on bed availability, helping our teams communicate faster, allocate beds more efficiently and coordinate referrals.
For us, this is more than a new digital system. It is about reducing the “No Bed Syndrome", improving patient flow and ensuring that when someone needs care, we are better prepared to respond.
The training was facilitated by TTH Bed Managers Apala Peter and Seidu Awudu, with support from Songose Aishetu, Facility Administrator from the Ministry of Health.
Through this partnership, TTH continues to strengthen its systems and people to deliver safer, faster and more responsive care. Because behind every referral is a patient. Behind every patient is a story. And when lives are at stake, every second counts.
