Shekinah Glory, a leading bakery company in Tamale, has renovated the Paediatric Unit of the Physiotherapy Department of the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH). This renovation will provide a more child-friendly environment to enhance the care and recovery of young patients.
The refurbished facility was handed over to management at a brief ceremony, where the company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting quality healthcare delivery in the Northern Region.
The Chief Executive Officer of Shekinah Glory, Mrs Anna Esinam Baah, commended the staff of the hospital, particularly personnel of the Physiotherapy Department, for their dedication and compassionate care for patients despite the demanding nature of their work.
She appealed to health professionals not to be discouraged by public criticism and occasional verbal attacks from patients and their relatives.
"Please do not give up on your patients because of the insults and humiliation. Sometimes, forgive us. It is through pain that we insult you," she said.
Mrs Baah pledged the company's continued partnership with the Tamale Teaching Hospital to support efforts aimed at improving healthcare delivery.
She expressed the hope that the hospital would continue to develop into a centre of excellence to provide tertiary care to patients from all parts of the country.
"Our vision is to see a hospital where people will even leave Accra to seek quality healthcare in Tamale," she stated.
She also urged corporate institutions, philanthropists and individuals to support the hospital, stressing that even modest contributions could have a meaningful impact on patient care.
Receiving the renovated facility on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of TTH, the Director of Medical Affairs, Prof. Alhassan Abdul-Mumin, expressed appreciation to Shekinah Glory for the gesture.
He described the intervention as a valuable contribution that would improve the treatment environment for children receiving physiotherapy services.
Prof. Abdul-Mumin commended the company for its continued support to the hospital and appealed to other organisations and individuals to emulate the gesture by investing in healthcare infrastructure and patient welfare.
Mrs Baah disclosed that her decision to support the hospital was inspired by the quality care she received at the Tamale Teaching Hospital after she was involved in a road traffic accident.
She said the experience reinforced her belief in the need for the private sector to partner public health institutions to improve healthcare delivery for the benefit of all.
