OPERATION SMILE DONATES OAE MACHINE TO TAMALE TEACHING HOSPITAL

Operation Smile has donated an Otoacoustic Emission (OAE) machine to the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) as part of its ongoing support for healthcare services. The machine, valued at $35 thousand, will enhance new-born hearing screening and early detection of hearing impairments.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mr. Henry Quist, a board member of Operation Smile, highlighted the importance of speech and hearing health, noting that these areas have not received the needed recognition. He emphasized that Operation Smile’s current focus is on capacity building, adding that the organization is sponsoring two nurses from TTH for their master's degree programs.

Dr. Adam Atiku, CEO of TTH, expressed gratitude for the continuous support from Operation Smile, acknowledging the organization's significant contributions over the years. He thanked them for their collaboration and commitment to improving healthcare services at the hospital.

Also speaking at the event, Professor Theophilus Justus Kofi Adjeso, Head of the ENT Department, assured Operation Smile that the newly acquired OAE machine will be effectively utilized to improve audiology services and patient care.

The donation marks another milestone in the partnership between Operation Smile and TTH, reinforcing efforts to strengthen specialized healthcare services in Ghana.
